30 June 09 - Capel Vale attends Mt. Barker producers association annual wine dinner

The annual Mount Barker wine producer's dinner was held on Friday 26th of June at Fraser' restaurant, Kings Park. Guests enjoyed a mouth-watering dinner specifically complemented by wines selected from the Great Southern, Mount Barker sub-region, including Capel Vale's Regional Series Mount Barker Shiraz

The Whispering Hill vineyard name was derived from the sound created by the winds howling through the nearby Casuarina trees, which can be heard while standing between the vine rows. This area with cool, windy and often overcast conditions, with very leached laterite and granite sandy soils provide the region with ideal growing
conditions for shiraz grapes which ripen showing some of the most desirable elegant but complex flavours and aromas seen in the best wines of Europe.

The Whispering Hill vineyard was purchased by the Pratten family back in 1987 and is widely considered to be one of the most outstanding vineyards for Shiraz and Riesling in the state.
